After a 3 year hiatus, one of our most popular stencil products is back! To celebrate the return, we sat down with the creator of Stencil Green tattoo application cream, Mikio Earley. Mikio is a California-based life-long tattoo artist who just wanted his stencils to stick around.
What led you to create Stencil Green initially?
"We were looking for a stencil cream that would really hold the stencil. We were using all kinds of stuff and trying to figure out the stuff to use to make the stencil stick the best in the most safe and sanitary way and went through many formulas containing stuff from Pine-Sol® to green soap before settling on the final formula. We were using my girlfriend's kitchen for our experiments, and it was a complete mess!"
Why the 3-year hiatus?
"I've been tattooing 20 years and the last 3 years were the craziest times ever! I couldn’t get the key ingredient for the longest time due to COVID. I was able to find a different source finally and I thought we were back in business, but then there was a bottle shortage, so we had to go back to sourcing those. This year, things finally cleared up and we were able to go back to producing it with the same ingredients and packaging as always. It's a relief to be back in business and I’m glad to have a little spark back."
